We had a very successful first meeting on the 13th June 2024 with 14 people in attendance. We learnt and sang 5 songs together: South Australia, Roll the Old Chariot Along, Bulley in the Alley, Marching Inland and Wellerman. We will expand our repertoire in coming meetings and gradually work on the songs to enhance and add our own nuances based on singing abilities within the group.
On our second meeting we had 29 people. Singing was great and we learnt four new songs; John Kanaka, A Sailor ain’t a Sailor, Leave Her, Johnny Leave Her and Pay me my Money Down.
We had a very successful third meeting. The group is proving very popular; we had 28 people come along and had a fabulous time. We learnt three new songs; Blow the Man Down, Shanty Man and It’s all for me Grog.
We are increasing the frequency of meetings to twice a month from September; the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month 7pm till 8.30pm.
We welcome new members and meetings in September are on the 12th September and 26th September 2024, 7pm till 8.30pm in the small hall at St Pauls Church, Pixmore Way, Letchworth.
